WHAT IS PERFORMED ON THE MOWERS?
For about 30 of the cylinder mowers i have had, were all repaired only mechanically - cleaned up (degreased, oiled and Mr Sheened)  and sold

Some were recieved not going or going slightly (coughing, splattering....carby problems) but most were going and just needed a bit of a clean up / adjustment / blade sharpened / few new parts as they were worn.

MY OPINION ON THE MOTORS ON THE SCOTT BONNARS?

Regarding Motors this is what i have discovered over the years:

 BRIGGS AND STRATTON
I think the Briggs and Stratton 2hp - 2.5hp, 3hp motors are absolutely bullet proof...you cannot possibly stop them. They are a complete match for these little 45 series mowers and are 100% perfect.

They are small, quiet and have quite a beautiful sound when tuned to perfection. The carby's are simple, parts are cheap and readily available at decent mower shops and they honestly just look good.....especially the orange models!

On the bigger mowers i have had a few 5hp Briggs motors which have also been quite good, but possibly not as nice as the Honda's, but parts are cheap as chips so you cant really beat them. They are simple, powerful and have a beautiful sound.

HONDA
Over the years i have had a few Hondas. I have had some older ones going back to late 70s and some brand new ones and i have to say they are a nicer motor to have on gardening equipment. Why do all the contractors have them?? They are reliable and always start first pull but repairing them is a bit more complex then the Briggs and parts are a bit more expensive but you pay for quallity! A bit like a BMW i guess??

KIRBY TECUMSEH

The little Kirby tecumseh motors are also quite bullet proof, slighly rarer and seen on the older 45 mowers - the 3 piece chassis models. These are also beautiful little motors and once again orange!!

ROBIN SUBARU - CROMELLINS MACHINERY
I have also had a few Robin Motors and they are pretty rare - but i love them. I honestly dont think you can find a motor any quieter!! But parts are more than likely to be expensive, i believe they are as good or better than the Hondas.

KUBOTA
I have also had a Kubota motor and it is a very nice motor and Japanese made - what can i say! Looks good too!

We all know how cheap and easy parts are to get for the model 45s. Most of the older more established mower shops will have the basic parts but will order others  in.

The Honda motors are probably my favourite, i have had a Honda G65 6.8hp motor and she is the nicest motor i have ever met. 1976 model and made in Japan...a big difference to the later models. On my home mower ( Scott Bonnar model 65 24inch) fitted is a brand new Honda GX200 and this is my favourite mower but unfortunately the motor is not as nice as the older Japanese stuff.

Now here comes the good parts...

Restoration!!

After about 30 mechanical repairs i decided i wanted to restore a few.

So i had to save up a bit...all the money i had earned from the mechanical repairs was put into purchasing an Air compressor which Mum and Dad helped me buy!

I bought a $1300 air compressor from Hare and Forbes ( Super 16 stationary ) which pumps out free air delivery 328L/M which is plently plenty for spraying and sand blasting smaller objects cowlings etc.

I then bought a automotive star spray gun 2.0mm tip and other little accessories and started restoring them.

My first one took around 6 months to do on and off waiting for paint to harden and is no dodgy job at all...I believe its better than new!!

Since i have started i have had:
